The Westin Perth is a contemporary hotel that brings a deep understanding of lifestyle and landscape – and a residential feel – to an international brand.

The project is deeply connected to its location: the city of Perth, which imbues the project with a unique personality and character.

The Westin Perth (a 368-room hotel in the city centre) needed to fulfil the hotel operator’s brand standards while bringing to the fore a strong and identifiable connection to the hotel’s location. The design is predicated on the philosophy of the Perth residence, with a cosmopolitan sensibility, rather than that of an international hotel.

Although the project is a large hotel it conveys the air of a residence. This residential character is expressed through elements of furniture, materiality, lighting, accessories and art pieces that, along with connections to views and landscape, punctuate the simply-crafted spaces of the hotel.

The strength of the design lies in these elements - they are fundamental to creating a sense of personality within the hotel, bringing together the urban and the natural, the interior and exterior, the raw and the refined. The result is eclectic, contemporary and natural, while also being comfortable and engaging. The project creates spaces that look good but more importantly feel good to inhabit.
